We are seeking a candidate with substantial experience managing supplier quality to include experience driving/facilitating resolution of supplier issues. The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) will manage the quality of custom electronic products which are manufactured overseas by contracted suppliers. The SQE will also participate in the evaluation and approval of new suppliers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position interacts with the purchasing, engineering, call center and management teams; having primary responsibility for running our quality program including participating in the evaluation and approval of new suppliers.
o Lead and manage a team of 5-10 assembly and inspection technicians.
o Prepare assembly and test instructions for new electronic products. Train assembly technicians how to perform them
o Monitor the inspection results on shipments from suppliers, as well as product returns from our customers, to identify and resolve defect issues. Evaluate and report these test results to outside suppliers to identify quality issues, root causes and resolutions.
o Project manage the improvement and fully implement Lathem’s process for defect tracking and reporting
o Strategically lead supplier performance improvement initiatives to increase their capability of consistently meeting requirements.
o Lead Quality Improvement Team and Material Review Board.
o Help Purchasing improve and maintain key supplier audits and schedule.
o Assist Engineering, Purchasing, and Manufacturing in evaluation and qualification of design changes.
o Facilitate revision control of design changes.
o Manage on-hand supply of tools and consumable materials necessary to support a manufacturing and support operations.
o Plan fixture designs needed to test electronic and mechanical assemblies.
o Perform material review on problematic incoming items.
o Develop procedures, work instructions and forms as needed.
o Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION - EXPERIENCE
Bachelor Degree in Electrical or Quality Engineering and minimum of 3 years’ experience in production and quality in a manufacturing environment -or- Associate Degree in Electrical or Quality Engineering and 5+ years’ experience in production and quality in a manufacturing environment -or- 10 years’ experience in production and quality in a manufacturing environment without a college degree and substantial experience managing supplier quality in a manufacturing environment to include experience driving/facilitating resolution of supplier issues.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Experience working with overseas suppliers. SQE Certification. Supervisory/Managerial experience. IEEE Membership. Excellent communication skills in English .
