History:

Lathem Time Corporation was founded in 1919 by George Lathem and his son, Louie Lathem, Sr. as the southeast distributor for the Simplex Time Recorder Company. In 1947 the company manufactured its first time recorder designed by Harrison Hooper. To date, the company remains a family-owned and operated business through four generations.

Ownership:

The company is still held by the Lathem and Hooper families. William C. Lathem serves as the company's president and chief executive officer, and Calista Ann Hooper serves as the vice president and chief financial officer.

Products:

Lathem specializes in mechanical and automated employee time and attendance tracking systems, including the No. 1-selling automated system for small business, PayClock® EZ. Products include time clocks, data collection terminals, software and synchronized wall clocks. In its latest development, Lathem's PayClock EZ time data now integrates with Intuit's QuickBooks® Pro/Premier 2002, providing small businesses with a fully automated punch-to-paycheck system. PayClock's automation reduces payroll preparation time by up to 80 percent and eliminates inaccuracies associated with manual calculations, saving up to 3 percent in payroll costs.
